Solved IT scores goal with PFA

October 2012
Solved.IT were recently part of a CRN article regarding the roll out of Meraki Wireless technology within the PFA (Professional Footballers Association) - who Solved.IT already support for SonicWALL appliances.
The PFA was formed in 1907 and is the world’s longest established professional sportsperson’s union. The aims of the PFA are to protect, improve and negotiate the conditions, rights and status of all professional players by collective bargaining agreements.
Solved.IT specialise in Unified Application Visibility & Control, Wireless & Secure Remote Access, Continuous Data Protection, Intelligent Backup and Recovery solutions.
Technology is seen and utilised as a fundamental tool to achieve the highest levels of service that the PFA strive to deliver. The new wireless network will enable staff using mobile technology such as BlackBerry devices, Windows laptops, tablets and Apple MacBooks to connect swiftly and securely to PFA data.
The connection also enables secure public web access for various levels of PFA guests that attend offices from time to time. Layer 7 technology ensures application control access to various websites does not restrict the main PFA internet bandwidth and content filtering successfully negates access to undesired websites.
Jon Kilburn, Director of IT & Digital Communications for The PFA, said “We have been impressed by the ease of installation and subsequent management of the units. The wealth of information available from the Cloud Controller should certainly help to identify any future issues that may arise.”
The high performance 802 11n joint 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz access points installed are reliable enough to provide connectivity that overcomes the challenges posed by interference in busy city centre office locations. As a result, the Cloud Controller also avoids security risks that are caused by this.
Despite The PFA’s complicated infrastructure, Solved.IT have been able to converge a number of Meraki wireless networks in close proximity that makes them very easy to use. The Cloud Controller can intelligently switch to other channels if it is experiencing any issues; meaning customer experiences are never compromised
