Microsoft issued its last ever security patches for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) in July.
The service pack, which was first released in August 2004, is no longer be supported by Microsoft meaning that users will no longer receive any security patches - regardless of how critical any discovered vulnerability may be.
Furthermore, it's not just Windows XP SP2 that Microsoft are not updating - but your installations for Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, Outlook Express and other Windows XP SP2 components also won't receive security patches if you're running that version of the operating system.
Windows XP SP3 was released in 2008, But stats suggest that 77% of organisations are running Windows XP SP2 on 10% or more of their PCs. This could be you!
If a new vunerability is discovered an awful lot of computers could be unprotected.
Our advice would be to make sure you apply the free update on the MS website to Windows XP SP3, this will be supported to at least 2014 or talk to us about how you can migrate to Windows 7.
