Solved.IT have been chosen by the Forest of Dean District Council to provide, design and install their security systems to comply with the Government's Connect Secure Extranet (GCSx).
In designing the Code of Connection (CoCo) security systems, Solved.IT chose to install two SonicWALL E5500 NSA Enterprise Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliances in stateful active/active High Availability for the main internet connections and SonicWALL NSA 2400 UTM appliances for the CoCo connection.
Running all services across both UTM appliances - Gateway Anti-Virus, Gateway Anti-Spyware, Intrustion Detection + Prevention, Application Level Firewall and Business Premium Content Filtering, the Forest of Dean District Council are assured of the highest level of security at a cost lower to other enterprise offerings.
The 3Com core network was also replaced with HP ProCurve core and edge switches giving the Forest of Dean District Council even great control than previously.
SonicWALL SonicPoint access points were also implemented where possible and allowed, in a virtual setup so they provided multiple SSID and zones which required passing through the firewall in the first instance before hitting the network. The wireless access points were also physically segregated from the main network at switch level to satisfy CoCo requirements.
